Wishes Granted
Louis - To have a Treehouse in his Garden
Louis, aged 10, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. Louis likes nothing better than being outside in the garden building things - he plans to be a carpenter when he is older! Louis could only think of one thing for his wish… a Tree House. Jamie of Stark Projects Ltd very kindly offered to donate his labour to help build the treehou
se. He visited the family home to meet Louis and together they designed the tree house. Within a few days Jamie and his colleague arrived and started the build. Louis was away on a family holiday and when he arrived home he was over the moon to see it waiting there for him!
Rory - To Visit Legoland in Denmark
Rory, aged 9 was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. For Rory's wish he asked to go to Legoland in Denmark. He travelled with his mum, dad and older brother where they stayed in the Legoland Hotel. The family had an amazing time; Rory was in his element surrounded by all the Lego and he came home with lots of Lego goodies to carry on the fun! Unfortunately Rory came home with Shingles - It didn't ruin his holiday but it did mean that he had to spend another week in hospital upon his return. His new Lego has helped take his mind off the hospital routine. Despite everything Rory said
"It was the best holiday ever!”
Jenson - To have a sunny holiday in Menorca
Jenson, aged 6, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. He loves spending time with his family and wanted to go somewhere sunny with a beach. Jenson and his family flew to Menorca and stayed in a hotel in the resort of Son Bou for 7 nights. The children spent most of the holiday in the swimming pool, even when it rained! Mum said they must have bought every inflatable toy going! The family had a really special time.
Nel - To go on a Sunny Holiday
Nel, aged 5, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. Nel had been on holiday with her family before and wanted to go somewhere warm and sunny so she could play on the beach, so we arranged for them to go to Menorca. They stayed for 7 nights at the Viva Menorca Hotel in the resort of Cala’n Bosch. The family all had a fantastic time and a much needed break. The children loved jumping in and out of the hotel swimming pool. They all enjoyed the hotel disco in the evenings and said the food and staff were lovely. Nel went home with some very special memories to treasure.
Tom - To have a Epiphone Casino Guitar
Thomas, aged 11, was diagnosed with a Brain Tumour. The treatment he has received has unfortunately left Thomas partially sighted. For Thomas' wish he asked for an Epiphone Casino Guitar in Vintage Sunburst. We purchased the guitar, amp and case and had it sent to the family home. Tom has recently started playing and is having vocal lessons along side; he cannot read music due to his sight problems so is learning everything by ear. The only music he will play is The Beatles! Thomas is a huge fan of The Beatles especially Paul McCartney and has chosen this guitar because it is the same as Paul’s!
Elly - To have a holiday at Disneyland Paris
Elly, aged 6, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. Elly loves Disney and wanted to go and meet Mickey Mouse. The family travelled to the Newport Bay Club hotel and headed straight off to the Disneyland Park. Elly and her brother Jordan got to enjoy lots of the rides and see the parade before heading back to the hotel. Elly got to meet one of her favourite characters... Mickey Mouse. She was delighted and gave Mickey a big kiss. They were all very sad when they had to go home but had an amazing time!
Joshua - To have the "Death Star" Lego set
Joshua, aged 7 years old, is suffering from Wilm's Tumour, a cancer of the kidneys. Joshua is a huge Lego fan, so for his wish Josh only wanted one thing, a very special Death Star Lego Product! As it is such a simple wish we spoke to his mum to see what other Lego products she thinks he might like. We have included a few extra Indiana Jones Lego products to keep him busy throughout the summer. We wrapped it all up in Lego paper and sent the boxes directly to the family. Joshua was so excited when he found out his wish was waiting for him at home, as soon as he got in he unwrapped everything and started creating Lego masterpieces straight away!
Supatra - To go to Disneyland Paris
Supatra, aged 5, was diagnosed with a Brain Tumour. For her wish she asked to go to Disneyland Paris, so we arranged for Supatra and her family to travel by Eurostar in London directly to Disneyland Paris. Supatra's mum said they had an absolutely amazing time and Supatra loved being able to go on all the rides without queuing and she loved meeting all the Disney Princesses, and being treated like a princess herself! She was even selected from the crowd to be part of the Disney Parade and marched along side the characters while a very proud mum watched. They all had a wonderful time and a holiday filled with memories for everyone.
Sherrie - To have a saddle for her pony
Sherrie, aged 11 was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at birth. Last year Sherrie was given a Pony called Pikey! For her wish she asked to have a saddle of her own because she’d previously had to borrow the club’s equipment in order to go riding. As Pikey’s still growing we were able to purchase a saddle that ‘grows with the horse.’ Sherrie was so happy!
Samantha - To have an i-pad
Samantha, aged 10, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. Samantha decided, for her wish, she would like her very own i-pad. John Wallace, Chairman of Dunfermline Round Table, took delivery of the iPad. John took the i-pad to Samantha's mum, who along with dad took it to Samantha in hospital. Samantha's face lit up when she received it. Samantha also loved her gloss red carry case to put the i-pad in, as red is her favourite colour. She is looking forward to passing the time in hospital now her i-pad has arrived.
Joshua - To have a 3D Television
Joshua, aged 7, was diagnosed with a Brain Tumour. Joshua had been to see the 3D movies in the cinema and has seen the new 3D TV’s in the shops and absolutely loves the new technology, so he asked for his very own 3D TV to go in his bedroom. Joshua was over the moon when he came home to find the big box waiting for him on the lounge floor. He had it set up and working before his Dad had a chance to put the bracket on the wall.
Harry - To have a Laptop
Harry, aged 13, suffers from a high grade Brain Tumour. It has affected him in many ways including with his hand/eye co ordination. Harry needed a laptop with a larger than normal keyboard and the Apple fitted the remit. Harry was over the moon when it arrived and loves his new Laptop. He could not wait to go back to school and tell all his friends about it, even though no one is aloud to touch his new pride and joy! It will be wonderful that he can now keep in contact with his friends and it will help him pass the time when he is in hospital. Harry's Mum said, "Just like to say a very big thank you, Harry's had a terrible year but thanks to you and the team, you have made it a lot brighter!"
Lillie - To have a Garden Playhouse and Sandpit
Lillie is suffering from Acute Promeyloctic Leukaemia. She was referred by her mum in the hope we could grant Lillie’s wish to have a wooden Wendy house with an upstairs and a sandpit in the garden. She has seen one at a friend’s house and her mum said she really loves it and would be in it all the time. We ordered Lillie a Snowdrop cottage with a matching sandpit and had it delivered direct to their home. Andy Parks, Chairman of Ilkeston and District Round Table kindly agreed to help put the cottage up. Andy said, ”the smile on Lillie’s face was a delight to behold and all the guys said it was a pleasure to get involved.” Lillie absolutely loves her new house; she stayed outside all day in the cold and watched her playhouse go up. She played in it all day after and has already planned what she wants to do to it. Once the summer comes they are going to paint it and install lights so she can play into the evening. And Grandma is going to help her plant some pretty flowers in her window boxes, which she is going to water with her very own watering can.
Oliver - To go to Lapland
Oliver, aged 4 was diagnosed with Wilm’s Tumour. Oliver travelled with his parents and younger brother to the resort of Levi to stay at the White Reindeer Hotel. The family had an absolutely amazing time and they got involved in all the pre- arranged activities and loved them so much they organised another Husky and Reindeer ride. Oliver loved the animals and screamed with excitement all the way round. There were also Husky puppies that Oliver wanted to take home with him! Mum said everything was so well organised and the hotel was amazing, they even had a bouncy castle inside as it was far too cold outside!
Jake - To go to Disneyland Paris
Jake, aged 4 suffers from complex congenital heart disease. Jake was desperate to go to Disneyland Paris – after a few delays at the airport due to snow the family were able to fly to Disneyland Paris. They went straight to the Magic Kingdom but after an hour a snow blizzard hit the area and Disney closed all the rides!! The next morning the snow had cleared up enough for them to be able to head to the park where Jake enjoyed all the rides. Jake’s favourite ride was Buzz Lightyear and his is all time favourite character is Woody from Toy Story!
Maria - To go to Lapland
Maria, aged 6, suffers from a degenerative condition called Ataxia Telangiectasia. Maria’s brother, Ben also has the same condition. For Maria’s wish she asked to visit Santa in Lapland. We arranged for the family to travel to the resort of Majatalo to stay in the Hetan Majatalo Hotel. The family had an absolutely wonderful time and said the hotel was amazing! They enjoyed a Husky Experience where they got to stroke the Huskies and feed them, which Maria and Ben loved! They had a mini Snow hockey pitch they could play on, an igloo they could explore and everyone sung Christmas songs to pass the time.
Jessica - To have a Shopping Trip, Makeover & Photo Shoot in London
Jessica, aged 16 was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer. For her wish Jessica asked to have a shopping trip to London with a Makeover and photoshoot. We arranged for Jessica and her mum to travel up to London to stay in The Stafford London hotel to have a girly weekend away. The hotel was wonderful - they upgraded Jess and her mum to a Suite, which turned out to be a luxury couch house in the garden! As soon as they had checked in, they shopped until they dropped! The next day Jess and her mum made their way to Studio 52 where they were greeted and looked after for their day of pampering. They both had their hair and make-up done and then the camera started rolling and they now have lots of wonderful photos to treasure for a lifetime.
Steven - To go to Disneyland
Steven, was diagnosed with Langerhan’s Histiocytosis. He loves watching the Disney Channel and wanted to meet all the characters. We sent the family to Disneyland Paris and his favourite rides were “It’s a Small World”, Buzz Lightyear and Autopia. The whole family said it was a once in a lifetime trip and the experience was amazing.
Ethan - To Swim With Dolphins
Ethan, aged 9, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. Ethan’s wish was to experience swimming with dolphins! We arranged for the family of five to travel to Puerto De La Cruz, Tenerife and Ethan and his family went to visit the spectacular Dolphin Show and afterwards Ethan swam with the dolphins! He was nervous at first, but as soon as he got in the pool, he didn't want the experience to end!
Jacques - To ride in a Tank
Jacques, aged 12, was diagnosed with a Spinal Tumour. Unfortunately due to the treatment, Jacques now has to use a wheelchair, but he does not let this hold him back. Jacques loves anything to do with the military so we arranged for Jacques and his family to be collected in a Silver Rolls Royce from their hotel and taken on a scenic drive to Bovington Tank Museum. To make his day extra special Captain Sion James of the Royal Dragoon Guards came along as a personal guide for Jacques. He escorted everyone around the museum and explained about all the tanks in detail and shared some of his stories. They were all treated to a ride on a tank support vehicle and Jacques favourite part of the day was the outside Tank Display which he really enjoyed. Jacques had a wonderful day and has taken home some very special memories!
Brandon - To go to Butlins in Minehead
Brandon, aged 9, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. Brandon asked to go to Butlins because the Team Extreme were there putting on BMX and skate boarding demonstrations. The family spent 5 days at the resort where Brandon got to enjoy all the activities on offer. He loved the swimming pool complex and eating out at all the restaurants. The highlight was being able to have a coaching lesson with Team Extreme where he was able to hone his skills!
Stephanie - To meet Christie Kerr (Former No. 1 Ladies Golf Champion)
Stephanie, aged 10, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. Stephanie has always been a keen golfer and it was her dream to meet her golfing hero - Christie Kerr. We contacted the Ladies Golf Union and Shona Malcolm - The CEO of the Ladies Golf Union came on board and did her upmost to make everything run smoothly on the day! Stephanie's mum wrote us a letter all about their special day....
"Well, where do I begin!!!?? other than to say that Stephanie's wish was more than fulfilled, it was surpassed! We were all treated as VIPs. Shona Malcolm is a lovely person who absolutely stopped at nothing to ensure Steph had a memorable experience. We had access to all the VIP areas and we enjoyed a beautiful lunch. Stephanie was taken to the practice range and Christie Kerr and Morgan Pressell arrived! Steph's eyes nearly popped out of her head as she was introduced to them both and they gave her the golf clubs and lots of other goodies!! Then she had a mini golf lesson with Morgan and Christie! The memories of last week, I am sure, will live with her forever. What more inspiration could a young girl have to get herself well and fit again after what she has been through? No words can express how appreciative we are of what you have organised for our daughter - it was a truly, memorable experience and I am sure the memories of it will live with her forever and also help her get through the final 9 rounds of chemo she will have to endure before treatment ends in Feb 2011.

Harrison - To go to Disneyland Paris
Harrison, aged 6, is suffering with Cystic Fibrosis. Harrison is Disney mad and wanted to go on all the great rides. For his Wish we arranged the trip and on arrival at their hotel they were thrilled that Mickey Mouse was in the hotel to say hello to them. The family headed off to the parks where Harrison was able to meet lots more characters including Buzz Lightyear, Winnie the Pooh, Donald Duck, Goofy and the Chipmunks. Harrison loved Frontierland as he was able to go on Big Thunder Mountain - his favourite ride! The family enjoyed all that Disney had to offer and were thrilled that they were able to queue jump with the VIP pass. The character breakfast was enjoyed by everyone especially Harrison who got lots of fuss and attention from Mickey Mouse and the Chipmunks. Everyone had a wonderful trip and they have some wonderful memories to share.
Charlotte - To see Mamma Mia at the Theatre
Charlotte, aged 15, was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer. Charlotte loves the theatre and really wanted to see Mamma Mia, so we arranged for a visit to London to do some sightseeing then on to the theatre to see the show! Charlotte sent in a lovely letter, here's what she said..
"Thank you so much for my wish - I absolutely loved it! The hotel was very nice! We went to Madame Tussauds, which was brilliant. The figures were so lifelike! Afterwards we did some shopping down Oxford Street then had a lovely meal.
On the Saturday, we went sightseeing all around London, and went on a Thames river cruise. It was great fun, and we were also able to walk along the Thames to see the street entertainers. In the evening, we made our way to Mamma Mia! It was absolutely brilliant and I loved it. Meeting the cast was really good too, they were really nice and they signed my programme. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in London and would like to take the opportunity to thank you again for a weekend I'll never forget.

Jamie - To have a Portsmouth FC Season Ticket
Jamie, aged 16, has been receiving treatment for Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Jamie is an avid Portsmouth supporter and asked if he could have season tickets for him and his brother Michael. We spoke to Portsmouth who said they would like to present him with a signed shirt too! We organised match day tickets for his mum and sister Hannah so they were in on the surprise. Tom, from the club, took the family to their seats. They were able to watch the team warm up before Tom lead the family to the dugout. Michael was chuffed that he got to sit in the manager’s seat! Tom made an announcement telling the crowd about Jamie and his Wish before he was led on to the pitch. He was presented with a signed team shirt by former Portsmouth defender Linvoy Primus. Jamie was thrilled and a little embarrassed by the fuss but was pleased that he was then able to return to his seat to enjoy the match!
Harrison - To have a Bulldog Puppy
Harrison, aged 6 was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. Harrison asked for a British Bulldog puppy. His parents took him to view the puppies at a local breeder and he picked out a cute male puppy. The puppy, named Bonzo, is settling in nicely at the family home and a budding friendship is underway with Harrison.
The family said, "Thank you so much for granting Harry's Wish, it was the best thing in the world to see his face when he came home from school to see him. They are really close already and love playing together. You are such wonderful people what you do for all the children, and there are not enough words to say how much we thank you and appreciate what you have done, thank you once again. All our love from Harry and family x"
Abigail - To visit Rome
Abigail, aged 16, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. Abbey wrote in her own words:
"The hotel was amazing and the room was fabulous. On the first day we went to find the Trevi Fountain, my number one place to visit in Rome and after getting slightly lost we found it and it was better than I imagined! Then we went for our first slice of proper Italian Pizza!
On Tuesday we took a walk to the Colosseum which was MASSIVE! We walked around it for a bit and then went inside to have a look and i could not believe what i was seeing it was amazing. After the Colosseum we went to see the Spanish Steps which were smaller than i expected but they we still amazing. While walking round we also saw many other little sights.
We went out for a meal just round the corner from our hotel and i tried some proper Italian Spaghetti with a tomato sauce, which was AMAZING.
We had a shopping day for us before going to the airport. All in all my wish was a BIG success and i would like to thank you and everyone else behind making my dream come true.

Amelie - To go to Disneyland Paris
Amelie, aged 5, was diagnosed with Wilm’s Tumour. Amelie’s Wish was to go to Disneyland Paris with her family. She flew with her mum, dad and brother to the magical world of Disneyland to stay in the Newport Bay Club Hotel. The family had an amazing time. Every ride they could go on, they went on twice! Amelie's favourite ride was the Tower of Terror and she loved getting all the princesses autographs too. The family had a wonderful time and would love to go back in the future.
Calvin - To meet Chelsea Football Team
Calvin, aged, 14 was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. Calvin is a huge supporter of Chelsea and with the support of Chelsea FC we were able to grant his wish.
Calvin and his mum flew from their home in Jersey to Gatwick Airport and then made their way to the Hotel. His mum had secretly organised for Calvin’s’ best friend James to come to London to share in the Wish. Calvin was stunned when he saw James in the hotel reception and was over the moon that he could share his Wish. They did a tour of the Chelsea FC stadium and museum, followed by some shopping at the Chelsea FC Mega Store. They watched Chelsea play and just before the game finished Calvin was taken to meet the players in the tunnel. Calvin was delighted that he got his shirt and autograph book signed by the whole team and the substitutes. He had the most amazing time and one he will never forget.
Connor - To visit Santa at Lapland
Connor, aged 6, was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at birth. Connor’s Wish was “To meet the real Santa Claus and see his workshop!” We arranged for Connor and his family to travel to Lapland to stay at the wonderful Santa Clause Hotel. Connor had a ride on a husky sleigh which he thoroughly enjoyed and the family had a lovely traditional Christmas Dinner before going to meet Santa, who arrived with Rudolph pulling a sleigh. Connor had a fantastic time and has some very special memories!
James - To have a sunny holiday
James, aged 5, was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma, a type of Brain Tumour. His Wish was to go on family holiday to Spain because of his memories of a holiday he had just before he was diagnosed - this was his last memory of being well. The family flew to Playa Blanca in Lanzarote. They all had an amazing time and had a well needed break. The weather was fantastic which meant they spent the whole time on the beach or in the pool. James had a wonderful time and most of all he enjoyed flying in an aeroplane!
Lauren - To meet Leona Lewis
Lauren, aged 13 was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. Lauren is a huge Leona Lewis fan and has always wanted to meet her. GVA Grimley, our corporate supporters, struck gold and they were able to secure a last minute date for the meet to happen. We swung into action and put all the arrangements in place.
The family travelled to London to check in to a lovely hotel and, after Lauren had decided what to wear, the family were on their way to meet Leona. Lauren could not believe she was going to meet her idol. They had a wonderful time chatting and Leona presented Lauren with lots of signed goodies and even offered her priority tickets for next year’s tour. As Lauren loves to sing and perform she wanted to present Leona with a special gift, a copy of her very own CD! Leona thought this was fabulous and made Lauren sign it for her. Lauren had the most amazing time and is still on cloud nine from the whole experience. It is certainly one she will never forget!
