Round Table Children's Wish win Business Charity Award 2010 - Challenge Team Award with GVA Grimley!
GVA Grimley partnered with the Round Table Children’s Wish charity won the award for Challenge Team for their 12 Wishes campaign. GVA Grimley employees from across the company’s 12 national offices sky dived and competed in triathlons, marathons, bake-offs and sweepstakes to raise over £50,000. They more than exceeded their targets, enabling 16 children to live their dreams, from riding on a steam train, to visiting Disneyland Paris and meeting pop star Leona Lewis.
Collecting the award from host, BBC News presenter Huw Edwards, Rob Bould, chief executive, GVA Grimley said: “GVA Grimley takes its commitments to supporting charities extremely seriously, but this was the first time all our people could see first hand the difference donations could make to individual children and their families. This inspired them to pull out the stops and use their skills and expertise to go so much further.”
Also accepting the award at the black tie event was Helen Jeffery, Fundraising and Communications Manager at Round Table Children’s Wish, who said: “The staff at GVA Grimley achieved more than we could have possibly imagined, and this award is well deserved recognition of their supreme commitment and energy working together with our charity.”

Nathan Adam's London to Paris Cycle Ride - 5th to 9th May 2010
|
In Nathan's own words, "Up for a challenge and wanting to do something for a charity, I decided that now would be the time to do it and so I booked the cycle. Always wanting to raise money for a children’s charity, I decided to raise money for the Round Table Childrens Wish after looking at their website and seeing the amazing work that they do. I managed to raised over target and hit £1400. There were a lot of hills but plenty of undulating terrain to keep it varied. Day 1 involved riding over 90miles from Crystal Palace to the Dover ferry. After crossing over to Calais it was time to stop for the night. The 2nd day involved cycling 75 miles through French countryside and day 3 very much the same. On the last day we set out for the last stretch of our cycle ride riding 60 miles into Paris city centre, taking in all the sights. The sense of achievement I felt completing the ride was incredible and there was a real celebratory feeling in the group - France is a beautiful country with stunning countryside and most importantly I was able to raise money for a worthy charity helping it to continue it's wonderful work. This is an experience I will never forget". Well done Nathan - from everyone at Round Table Children's Wish!! |
